1. Warm-up/Technique: pick two strings and alternate them as you go.

2. “Dance of the Islands”, practice in parts! Play until it’s good and then at least 2 more times good. Go to the next phrase and do the same thing. Combine the phrases as they start sounding better.

Performance Class pieces: “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” and “Lightly Row”. Practice performing them.

”Dance of the Islands”, good work! Keep practicing memory and work on the last part. Pay attention to the Fingers! 

2017-2018 Lesson 26

1. Technique/Warm-up: stay close to the fretboard.  Don’t extend the hand, just relax when taking fingers off.

2. “Dance of the Islands” Go phrase by phrase and work on MEMORIZING the notes. Play without the paper. You may say the name of the notes first with the paper and then try and say it without he paper. 

3. Keep playing “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”

4. Theory sheet, draw Sol clefs and name the notes! 

2017-2018 Lesson 25

1. Warm-up/Technique: Keep fingers close to the fretboard. Move the hand as LITTLE as possible.

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 50, 51 and 52

3. Sight reading: REVIEW! Perhaps move back to exercises on the 1st string only and then the ones that only have the second string.

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Work on speed. Go from the “first floor” to the “second flood”. Gradually up the tempo

”Dance of the Islands” Go phrase by phrase playing a few times with the paper and try playing without the paper. Practice the last part with the correct fingers!

1. Warm-up/Technique: Keep fingers close to the fretboard. Move the hand as LITTLE as possible.

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 48, 49 and 50.

3. Sight reading: REVIEW! Exercises 13 to 18

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Keep having fun! Memory! I took your music for a week so you don’t use it! Haha!

”Dance of the Islands” Great Job! We only work on speed when it sounds good! Move on to the next two phrases. Read the notes and write their names down with pencil if you want. Practice!

1. Warm-up/Technique: Keep fingers close to the fretboard. Play on the beginning of the sound hole!

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 46 and 47. Compose!!!

3. Sight reading (other red book): Exercises 17 and 18.

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Keep having fun!

”Dance of the Islands” use video on lesson 21. Make sure to hold the sound of the note when you have half or dotted-half-notes. At the end of the practice, try playing without the paper.

Right Hand thumb a bit farther then the other fingers so you can pluck and not hook the string. Make a beautiful tone.

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Memory is also a practice!

Right Hand thumb a bit farther then the other fingers so you can pluck and not hook the string. Make a beautiful tone.

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 44-45.

3. Sight reading (other red book): Exercises 15-16.

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Use what you practiced at technique. Guitar Still, plucking beautifully. Play EVEN sounds first, then try to add “crescendos” ( getting louder!)

1. Warm-up/Technique: Pick at least 2 strings each practice. Thumb stays flat! Round your fingers and stay CLOSE TO NEXT FRET!

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 38-41.

3. Sight reading (other red book): Exercises 10-12

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Focus of the rhythm this week! Think about it! Play 3 times good. 

2017-2018 Lesson 18

1. Warm-up/Technique: Pick at least 2 strings each practice. Thumb stays flat! Round your fingers and perhaps start with the pinky.

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 36 and 37. Compose your own!

3. Sight reading (other red book): Exercises 8 and 9

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row” and “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”. Focus of the rhythm this week. Make sure to think about it in your head. Keep practicing!

1. Warm-up/Technique: Pick at least 2 strings each practice.

2. Rhythm book: Exercises 29, 30, 31 and 32. The 4/4 time signature.

3. Sight reading (other red book): Exercises 5 to 7

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row”, Play around with loud and soft notes. Add “crescendo” to the parts we colored in the score. “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” practice it in parts! Make sure to be able to play good at least 3 Times! Careful with the rhythm of he 8th notes. 2 notes per beat there. Go slow and enjoy! Write the name of the notes of the second line.

4. Repertoire: “Lightly Row”, Play around with loud and soft notes. Add “crescendo” to the parts we colored in the score. “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” practice it in parts! Make sure to be able to play good at least 3 Times! Careful with the rhythm of he 8th notes. 2 notes per beat there. Go slow and enjoy! Write the name of the notes of the second line.
