Scales
- Always start practice with scales and arpeggios.
- C Major, G Major, A minor harmonic. Practice with a metronome at 80 and remember to always alternate fingers with i and m, especially for G Major.
- remember to play the chord at the end of each scale
- try learning E minor harmonic if you have time.
Arpeggios
- work on the first measure, making sure to play the notes with stems down with your thumb.
- once you feel comfortable with the first measure, you can try learning the next measure.
A Simple Dialogue
- Make sure to always alternate your right hand fingers
- try slowing down a bit at the “poco rit.” part, then go back to tempo at the part marked “a tempo”
Sicilienne
- Just make sure to play the Re note with your fourth finger
Run-throughs
- do run-throughs of both pieces throughout the week.
- remember, take a (quiet) deep breath before you start each piece.
- try a run-through with distractions.
Etude in A minor
- first work on measures 2-3, with the metronome at 72. Goal is to get it three times in a row perfectly. If you can’t get seem to get it three times in a row, just try the next day
