2017-2018 Summer Lesson 4: Sasha Vinbor Costa Santos

Taught by Koh Kazama

Exercise 13

- much better job with the first half. Work on transition in the last measure to the middle of the second line.

- learn the new part (last line) and break it up into smaller parts.

- remember, your goal for each part is to get it three times in a row perfectly with the metronome beat at 60. Once you can get it three times in a row perfectly on the first try, you can start combining parts.

Prelude No. 9

- always look at the music while practicing

- practice making the chord transitions on time. Try doing four measures at a time, with the metronome beat at 84. Always look/think ahead, so you know which fingers you will need to prepare or take off. Once you are comfortable with doing the transitions, try playing the whole piece with the metronome.

- again, the goal is three times in a row perfectly

Sight reading exercise 15

- just like the other pieces, aim to practice small parts at a time first and then combine them.

- make sure to always follow the right hand fingerings

New repertoire - Can start learning A Simple Dialogue

Flash cards - much faster, was able to do it in 32 seconds. Next goal is under 25 seconds, then do it under 25 seconds with only looking at your left hand no more than twice.
