๐Ÿ’›The Juggler by Nancy and Randall Faber (Prep, A)

  1. Using NFPER, learn measures 3-4 in the following order:

    1. NOTES: Say the letter names and direction of the notes out loud correctly.

    2. FINGERING: Say and play the finger numbers (this step was difficult today but better on the second try)

    3. POSITION: Focus on good position three times correctly. Keep eyes on the music.

    4. EXPRESSION: Focus on the slur (smooth and connected). Lift your wrist at the end of the slur.

    5. RHYTHM: Set the metronome to 52 โ†’ count four beats before you start โ†’ play with the metronome!

  2. Play measures 1-4 with NFP & E as a focus (you donโ€™t need to keep a steady beat. Just play slowly (slower than m.m. 60). Do this three times correctly.

  3. Measures 5, 6, and 7 are exactly the same as measures 1, 2 and 3!

  4. Measure 8: Hold the left hand C (dotted half note) while the right hand plays staccato! Remember to bounce off the keyboard

  5. Practice measures 1-8 together! Keep your eyes on the music most of the time.

  6. Learn measures 8-13. Notice when the RH crosses over.

  1. Practice speaking letter names forward and backward from the following letter names. C, E, F & G.

  2. The goal is eventually speaking these with a steady beat at m.m. 120

๐Ÿ’›RHYTHM: Basic Rhyhmic Training

  1. Please prepare number 8

  2. If you make a mistake in the middle of the exercise, try to practice moving forward with a steady beat - keep your eyes moving forward in the music. This helps train us to recover well from mistakes in performance. However, if you make the same mistake more than twice, thatโ€™s when you can stop and isolate that area to fix it. Remember this type of practice is called โ€œspotting.โ€

  3. Keep the โ€œtaโ€ held for the full duration of the rhythm. Hold the ta until the rest and say โ€œrestโ€ when you arrive!

      1. It might not be correct after three tries so just do three in one day and be ok with that - try again the next day.

      2. Remember to keep going if you make a mistake.

    2. Once the above is correct, select the โ€œDeep Blue Sea Accompaniment.โ€
