Lesson Assignments

Wrist Movement:

  • Keeps our body relaxed.

  • Helps us play difficult passages / notes easily.

💛Angelfish by Anne Crosby Gaudet (L. 1, List B)

  1. Pedal is up-down on the pedal marking. Don’t lift your foot until you play the note.

    1. ❤️Listen to the audio in Newzik, once every day.

    2. 💛Please follow all of the markings in the music so you can play the dynamics well.

    3. 💚When you pedal, heel stays on the floor.

It begins as a peaceful day on the lake — still water, quiet light. You dive in, but something moves beneath you. A shimmering angelfish appears — graceful, but not friendly. Just as it circles closer, a mermaid rises and plays a haunting melody that sends it fleeing. She leads you to an ancient underwater kingdom… until everything blurs, and you wake, unsure if it was all just a dream.

💚Gavotte by Handel

  1. Recital practice!

    1. Be able to start from any measure of the piece!

    2. Choose a random number between 1 and 20 (use any method you wish that is fast and effective)

    3. Practice LH, RH, and HT,, measures 1-8 and 9 to the end.

    4. Three times per practice session.

This piece is a gavotte — a dance from the Baroque period. Handel didn’t write it for ballerinas, though. It was for fancy people in wigs dancing at royal parties. So if you imagine tiptoeing across a golden ballroom, you’re on the right track.

💚The Snake by Renée Christopher (L. 1, List C)

  1. Start to learn hands alone, then together.

  2. Careful of correct fingering.

💜New Popular Piece for the Summer

🖤”LET’S GO BACK”

  1. See the new PDF in Newzik called “Let’s Go Back V1”

  2. Practice what’s written and propose any changes to the melody or lyrics.

  3. Start thinking about a melody and lyrics for the verses

🖤Sightreading_2A (MAX 5-8)

  1. Go to Newzik and access the “Sightreading” PDF.

  2. Complete at least page 4

  3. Main reason for this assignment is to practice the technique you learned on the black keys
