Current Assignments
🟩Ravel, Jeux d’Eau
Up to measures 38: all markings in the music learned and perfected with a full tempo.
Learn to m. 50 - put in anchor-fingerings and wrist movements with arrows.
🟪Rameau Gavotte & Six Doubles
Gavotte:
Keep middle voice in mm. 5-8 a bit softer.
mm. 1-4 - complete phrase / statement.
mm. 5-8- make sure you start a tempo and then breathe between mm. 6-7.
mm. 9-16: LH should be stable in tempo, supporting a more flexible RH.
mm. 17-24: delay the A in m. 19. mm. 21-22 - more urgency “remember interesting harmony.” Don’t hold pedal too long in m. 20 as it takes away from this character. More time at the end of the Gavotte - last chord.
1st / 2nd double:
Leave more space between the variations and start right in-tempo mm. 88.6th dbl: Careful not to let the bass overpower the RH texture. Start with more sense of urgency but quiet.
3rd double:
m. 17 - more intensity
4th double:
assertive bass notes and shape them.
mm. 13-15: this feels / sounds like it’s difficult for you. Do voicing practice to gain technical command.
5th double:
needs technical practice in order to work more expressively.
6th double:
needs more technical work too but sounding good! More breath before you start the variation, and then start in-tempo.
