Lesson Point System: Starting January

  1. One point for each video submission.

  2. For example 4 practice videos with three required submissions per week = 12 video submission

  3. Grade = number of video submissions before the next lesson.

  1. Also review your scales

  2. Start more of Arabesque with Dustin next week.

  3. Weekly Practice Video: Complete all the steps in this video at least three times this week - ideally five!

🟩 Arabesque, Op. 100 No. 2 (Etude Level 3)

  1. go through the entire piece, and make sure you understand every single marking and expression in the piece (tempo markings, articulations, instructions). Test on all of the yellow highlighted markings.

  2. Learn all of the 16th notes in the piece hands alone.

    1. Remember to count before you begin.

    2. Remember the play the ties

  2. SET A METRONOME TO 60 PER QUARTER NOTE

    1. STUDY THE TIME SIGNATURE

    2. DO THE RHYTHM IN YOUR HEAD

    3. THEN STUDY THE NOTE NAMES IN YOUR HEAD AND THE DIRECTION OF THE NOTES

    4. THEN PLAY WITH A STEADY SLOW BEAT.

    5. KEEP YOUR WRISTS UP

    6. DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU’RE GIVING EACH HALF NOTE TWO BEATS! 🥸

    7. WHEN YOU FINISH, ASK YOURSELF WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. FIX IT IN YOUR HEAD AND DO IT AGAIN!
