🟩RCM Technique Level 3

  1. Make a comment in the comment section below every time you practice this.

  2. Learn notes for F Major, and play the game below with D Major and B minor forms.

  3. “Simon Says Click Scales”

    1. Have someone or something make a sound to indicate when you switch direction in the scale.

    2. Gradually build your speed after starting slowly.

    3. Keep the same fingering that you would for two-octave scales.

    4. Start with hands alone, then move to hands together.

    3. THEN STUDY THE NOTE NAMES IN YOUR HEAD AND THE DIRECTION OF THE NOTES

    4. THEN PLAY WITH A STEADY SLOW BEAT.

    5. KEEP YOUR WRISTS UP

    6. DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU’RE GIVING EACH HALF NOTE TWO BEATS! 🥸

    7. WHEN YOU FINISH, ASK YOURSELF WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. FIX IT IN YOUR HEAD AND DO IT AGAIN!

⬛️Etude Level 3 (second one) choose one in major and possibly playful.

⬛️ Theory, Level 2, Unit 6: Prepare pages 59 to the end of the unit.

  1. How to identify intervals:

    1. Identify the size

    2. Identify the bottom note of the interval as the tonic of a major or minor scale

    3. Ask yourself if the upper note is part of the major or minor scale.

      1. Tips:

        1. even intervals are found on line to space or space to line notes.

        2. odd intervals are found on line to line and space to space notes.

        3. Unisons, 4ths, 5ths, and 8ths are perfect intervals and found in both the major and minor scales.


Technique 🧰 Toolbox

  1. Close-loud (for fast scale-like passages needing needing independence of fingers).

    1. Play the key with a strong attack, close finger to the key, forward-motion wrist, then immediately relax while still depressing the key.

  2. Accent practice (for fast scale-like passges needing

    1. Use the close-loud technique in a small group of notes, rotating which note is using close-loud while all others fast and soft.
