2023 Fall Milestones

  1. Theory Level 1 Complete: Units 2-8

  2. Practicing:

    1. Wednesdays / Fridays: start practicing by 3:45 and finish no later than 4:30

    2. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays: start practicing by 3:30 and finish no later than 4:00

    3. Post a comment in the blog when you’ve done your practice according to the schedule above.

      1. Soccer = Mon, Tues, Thurs (6:15-9:00 pm)

      2. Tennis = Wed?

      3. Ballroom = Friday (October 13th start)

💚I Spy by Melody Bober (L. 2, B)

  1. Practice 5-6 - ninja hands practice between the two measures.

  2. Practice the LH alone “pop-wrists.” Popping the wrist up while the fingers dangle / relax.

  3. Look at how many measures are the same or similar in this piece! Have the whole thing learned by next week.

  4. Also, remember how funny it was that you could play the notes so easily when you looked at your music vs. not looking at the music? Remember this! :)

    1. For the RHYTHM portion (Star 2): Clap one measure of just beats, then continue clapping while you “tah” the rhythm.

  2. SET A METRONOME TO 60 PER QUARTER NOTE

    1. STUDY THE TIME SIGNATURE

    2. DO THE RHYTHM IN YOUR HEAD

    3. THEN STUDY THE NOTE NAMES IN YOUR HEAD AND THE DIRECTION OF THE NOTES

    4. THEN PLAY WITH A STEADY SLOW BEAT.

    5. KEEP YOUR WRISTS UP

    6. WHEN YOU FINISH, ASK YOURSELF WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. FIX IT IN YOUR HEAD AND DO IT AGAIN!
