2017-2018 Lesson 24: Marina Rocha (with Dustin)

Due by Tuesday, April 17th:

  1. Record yourself playing each of your five assessment pieces

  2. Listen / watch back with your music in front of you, listening for dynamics, articulations, tempo, correct rhythm, pauses, etc.

  3. Pause the video / recording and write down each SPOT (section that needs work) and GOAL (what needs to be fixed) in your practice chart.

  4. Text or email a photo of the "Spotting & Section Work" charts to both Dustin and Rami.

A Few Notes:

  1. What does your body / movements / posture say about your attitude toward the music? Does is say that you care and are respectful of the pieces you play? Does is say you are bored or disinterested?
  2. Be able to speak the names of all five of your PIECES (not songs) and the full names of each composer - clearly and easily! :)
  3. Remember that 2 points will be taken off for each piece that is not memorized.
  4. When you play wrong notes or when do something you didn't mean to do, what should you do then? Move on! Don't let anyone know what happened. No words or noises from your mouth. DO NOT ask to restart - EVER. :)
  5. Remember how difficult it was to play quietly on Dustin's piano? Each piano is different. How quickly will you adjust to the new instrument so you can create those "CUTE" and delicate sounds we talked about?
