ASSIGNMENTS

  1. 💚Italian Song by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

    1. Measures 24-28 and 40-44:

      1. Turn on metronome to 96 and practice clapping / tah-ing / counting 8th and 16th back and forth until your comfortable.

      2. Play LH with metronome

      3. RH with metronome

      4. HT with metronome.

      5. Same as above but with m.m. 100, then 104, 108, 112, 116, 120

    2. It’s four measures of music, hands together, very slowly, with a special focus on expression and hand movement. Don’t worry about keeping a steady beat.

    3. Pause the video after every four measures to practice.

    4. Eventually you should be able to play more than 4 measures at a time - start combining to do 8, then 12, then 16, etc.

  2. ❤️Celebrate Theory: Level 2 Unit 1

    1. Teach me about the grand staff

    2. Define “Whole steps” vs “half steps”

    3. Define a “scale”

    4. Define a “triad”

    5. Please make this a priority.

    6. Complete the entire unit and we’ll check it at your next lesson.

  3. 💚Celebrate Theory: Level 2 Unit 2

  4. 💚Basic Rhythmic Training

    1. Prepare exercises nos. 20-24

      1. Remember to conduct one measure of silence.

      2. Study the rhythm first, then go through without stopping - work through your mistakes. Fix them after you finish.

      3. Hold the sound of the “ta” for the full value of the note.

  5. 💜Sight Reading Piano Adventures: 2A (left off on page 33)

    1. Watch the sight reading video I texted your thread. Tell me about the video next week!

    2. Sight-read two “days” per practice session.

    3. Study the rhythm first (time signature and rhythm of the notes)

    4. Study the notes (key signature, intervals, etc.)

    5. SET THE METRONOME TO 60 AND DON’T GO ANY FASTER.

      1. Buy a physical metronome or use Newzik, an app on your watch or phone.

    6. Once you fix the mistakes in your mind, do it again.
