ASSIGNMENTS

1. 💜Italian Song by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

   1. No faster that m.m. 138 - practice ONCE with the metronome and once without.

   2. Practice starting from 3 different measures each practice session.

2. 💜Celebrate Theory: Level 2 Unit 3

   1. Complete page 31 (5.a & b) with Dustin

   2. Moving forward, we’ll do most of the theory for a short period at the lessons.

3. 💜Basic Rhythmic Training

   1. Prepare exercises nos. 54-56

      1. Put on the metronome to 36 and practice with this slowly. Remember it worked at the lesson!

      2. “Throw” the hand down to a specific point to signify the beat. The swing back up should also be clear.

      3. Conduct one measure of silence.

4. 💜Sight Reading Piano Adventures: 2A (left off on page 78)

   1. Sight-read two “days” per practice session.

   2. SET THE METRONOME TO 60 AND DON’T GO ANY FASTER.

5. 💚Gavotte French suite no. 5 in G Major by J. S. Bach

   1. Play 1-8 and ask yourself if anything needs work.

   2. Zoom in to any of these sections and “spot” them. Hands alone then together with repetition.

   3. Zoom back out and put the “spot” into the original section to see if it’s fixed!

   4. Fix fingering in measure 15 and 17

   5. Learn measures 16-19 hands together.

   6. Continue to practice 20 to the end hands alone.

6. 💚Diabelli, Sonatina in G Major, Op. 151, No. 1: Rondo

   1. Hands alone, measures 15-17: Please fix 8th notes (full value - say “eighth note”) and staccato notes.

   2. Hands together, measures 15-24: One measure at a time, practice hands together, three times correctly. Gradually increase to more than one measure at a time.

   3. Learn measures 29-32 hands alone then together!
