Technique

  1. Hanon No. 2 in C Major

    1. SPEED BUILD to m.m. 86 per quarter note.

      1. Do this gradually. If you can’t get to the final tempo above, list which one you can.

      2. Staccato Practice in Isolation: FOR TIDY ATTACKS

        1. Pinpoint the area that is untidy

        2. Apply staccato to that area

        3. The remaining notes are legato

        4. Start slowly to train your muscles to understand the movement

        5. Gradually speed build.

      3. Accent Practice:

        1. Every four notes. Rotate the placement of the accent.

        2. Make sure EVERY pattern is 100% correct with the accent in the right place.

        3. If you make a mistake, or don’t place the correct accent, go back to the beginning of the pattern you are on.

        4. Remember the accent is VERY strong.
