1. TECHNIQUE

   1. Scales: C, G, F Major RH & LH alone, two octaves.

      1. KEEP YOUR WRISTS UP AND WHEN YOU HAVE THE LONG NOTE AT THE END, MOVE YOUR WRIST FORWARD.

      2. WRIST LAZERS - DON’T LET THEM GET YOU!!!!! KEEP YOUR WRISTS ABOVE THE WHITE KEYS.

      3. HOW SMOOTH CAN WRIST LOOK ON THE KEYBOARD? PRETEND YOU’RE ON THE BEACH AND YOU’RE SMOOTHING THE SAND WITH YOUR WRIST IN ONE DIRECTION.

   2. Tonic Triads: C

      1. MELODIC & HARMONIC:

         1. Melodic = is like a melody, NOTES PLAYED SEPARATELY

         2. Harmonic = notes played together.

      2. TONIC & TRIAD

         1. Triad = three note in a chord

         2. Tonic (I) = the first degree of the scale - if you’re in G Major, the tonic is G

         3. Dominant (V) = the fifth degree of the scale - if you’re in C Major, the dominant is G

      3. FORWARD WRISTS

         1. when you play harmonically, put your wrist forward

      4. REMEMBER THE POSITION OF SCALES:

         1. Apply this to your chords.

2. READING

   1. Czerny Op. 823 No. 4

      1. Start learning hands alone

         1. say the names of the notes out loud before you play them.

   2. Czerny Op. 823 No. 3

      1. Hands together to the end

      2. Learn one measure at a time with SLO-MOTION movements.

      3. WRISTS ARE THE PRIORITY. Don’t go below the white with your wrists.
