Final Recital
May 30th: 2 pm
đź’šCzerny, Op 825 No. 1: Complete Etude
“Czerny was my first piece where I used the NFPER method. NFPER stands for Notes, Fingering, Position, Expression, and Rhythm. This method helps you learn pieces properly using good position and technique”
Hands in lap thinking of the first two measures.
Position: focus on round fingers and bubble.
This is also too fast - please play no faster than m.m. 100 per half note (two ticks per note)
đź’šThe Haunted Mouse (RCM, Prep. A)
“This next piece is about a little mouse that lives in a haunted house! He like to watch people run and shriek! It’s very entertaining for that mouse in the haunted house!”
Hands in lap thinking of the first two measures.
Remember to pop the wrist forward on each of the staccato notes.
Practice with m.m. 100. One time with the metronome, and one time without.
đź’šA Skating Waltz (RCM, Prep. A)
“The next piece is called Skating Waltz by composer, Boris Berlin. It has a lot of dynamics! Dynamics are expressive markings in the music that tell us to play louder or softer.”
Hands in lap thinking of the first two measures.
Dynamics! Remember left hand is the master of the expression here. Keep the right hand soft the whole time!
Practice once through, with music, at m.m. 76 (with the metronome).
Then turn the metronome off and pretend that it’s on!
đź’šThe Juggler by Nancy and Randall Faber (RCM, Prep. A)
“The Juggler is fast and fun. Look out for the part where I cross over my hands… this is where the juggler is balancing the balls!”
Practice starting from 3 random measures each day.
Practice once through, with music, at m.m. 92
Close music. Hands in lap thinking of the first two measures. Then play at final tempo. m.m. 126 (set the metronome for reference then turn it off and play through).

đź–¤READING: L&M Unit 3
Page 1: Deep Blue Sea
Pressing the media button, select “Deep Blue Sea Your Part.” Practice with this until you can play with it exactly as it sounds.
It might not be correct after three tries so just do three in one day and be ok with that - try again the next day.
Remember to keep going if you make a mistake.
Once the above is correct, select the “Deep Blue Sea Accompaniment.”
Do the same as above.
