(recital) 💚Etude in D Major by Czerny (L. 2, Etude) (7-15 min each day)

  1. Speed-building, metronome 40 (per measure). Remember to count out loud before you start.

  2. Start at random points.

  3. LH and RH alone - 3 x’s per week.

Czerny wrote hundreds of etudes to help students build speed, control, and clarity — and he knew what he was doing. After all, he was trained by Beethoven and later taught Franz Liszt. So you could say this little etude has some pretty serious piano ancestry.

(recital) 💚Minuet in G Major, K 1 e by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) (L. 2, A)

  1. Goal: Entire Piece Hands Together

    1. Four measures at a time, LH alone, RH alone, then HT.

    2. Spot the blue box

    3. Fix any green highlighted fingering

      Believe it or not, Mozart wrote this when most kids are still learning to read. But even at five years old, he had an ear for grace and elegance. This minuet is short, sweet, and unmistakably Mozart.

(recital) 💚The Waltz That Floated Away (L. 2, B)

  1. Please finish learning the piece and cram-practice when you get back!

David McIntyre is a Canadian composer who writes music full of whimsy and poetry. This waltz doesn’t stay grounded — it floats and spins like a feather caught in the breeze. You might find yourself daydreaming along with it.

    6. DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU’RE GIVING EACH HALF NOTE TWO BEATS! 🥸

    7. WHEN YOU FINISH, ASK YOURSELF WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. FIX IT IN YOUR HEAD AND DO IT AGAIN!
