ASSIGNMENTS ON HOLD

TECHNIQUE Level 3 - see page 7

  1. Minimum 5 practice days a week.

  2. We spent 10 min on two scales.

    1. Do these hands alone first.

      2. Then do the same thing hands together.

      3. Only then should you move on to playing these with a steady beat.

    2. Please double check the notes in red and blue

  2. Fingering

Four Star Level 3

    2. Notes and fingering. Look at the key signature. Observe intervals - the distance between the notes.

    3. Choose a slow tempo and start to play with a steady beat - don’t stop once you start. Move forward if you make mistakes.

(18 min)❤️Album for the Young, Op. 39, No. 1. Morning Prayer Pytor Tchaikovsky

  1. Sometimes practicing the rhythm abstractly (just rhythm) is helpful (measure 10 for example)

  2. When pedaling: play slowly, remember to push pedal all the way down and lift all the way up when you change, and keep notes held down longer - sometime you play staccato when you pedal.

  3. During our practice session, it took 20 min to do two measures (9-10). Remember to repeat what you do one day on the following day, and the next, etc.

  4. METHOD:

    1. Learn up to the end of measure 16 hands alone, then together.

    2. ONE VOICE at a time (soprano, alto, tenor, bass)

    3. Add another voice

    4. Then all together.

    5. Lots of repetition.

  2. For each system (4 measures) practice RH, LH, HT, 3 x’s correctly.

This piece comes from a collection written for young players, and its cheerful melody is designed to sound like a musette — a kind of French bagpipe from Bach’s time. It’s joyful, steady, and full of character.

#3💚Sonatina in G Major, Anh. 5, no. 1. II. Romanze (L. 3, B)

  1. Finish learning to the end.

  2. See all of the markings in Newzik.

Beethoven didn’t always write big, stormy music. This piece shows his softer side — thoughtful, lyrical, and quietly beautiful.
