        1. DO THE FOLLOWING EXERCISES WITH AND WITHOUT THE BOOK

        2. FOR EACH SCALE: SAY OUT LOUD AND ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING:

          1. What is the key signature and are there any extra sharps or flats?

          2. Where is finger 4?

          3. Then when you’re ready, count 4 steady beats in your mind before you start.

        1. FOR EVERY PRACTICE SESSION: REVIEW THE “TRIAD SECTION” ON PAGE 5 ABOUT ROOT POSITION AND INVERSIONS

        2. FOR EACH SOLID/BLOCKED CHORD:

          1. Do both hands, correctly three times each.

Musicianship

  1. Four Star Sightreading and Ear Tests 1

    1. *PREPARE: Set 1 and get started with Set 2

      1. Do one “day” for each practice session.

        1. Work on the loudness of your claps. Keep your palms together.

      2. Sightreading Portion:

        1. Please choose a slow, steady beat, THEN start. DO NOT stop once you’ve started.

        2. After you go through it once, ask yourself: “did I do all of NFRPE?” If not, go back, fix it in your head first, then do it again and ask yourself the same question.

  2. Sightreading Level 2A

    1. m.m. 40 - 60 no faster than this

    2. BE PICKY with NFRPE. It might take you up to 10 times to get everything! That’s OK. Because if you’re picky, you’ll get better faster!

      1. DO NOT GO FASTER THAN THIS. It’s this slow so you can get all the expressive markings.

  4. Angelfish (Level 1. B)

    1. Don’t change pedal unless it tells you to, in measures 17-20

    2. Practice this piece with metronome marking 72 per quarter note
